At Alpine Mold, every overmolded part is carefully inspected for bonding strength, insert positioning, dimensional accuracy, appearance, and sealing performance. From incoming material inspection to in-process control and final validation, we focus on stable quality for long-term mass production.
Incoming material & substrate/insert inspection
Mold condition check before production
Substrate/insert positioning control
In-process quality checks
Bonding strength inspection
Dimensional measurement
Appearance, flash & deformation check
Sealing performance validation
Pull-out & torque testing if required
Final inspection before shipment
Overmolding is an injection molding process where one material is molded over another material or component to create a single finished part. The base part can be plastic, metal, or an insert, while the overmolded material is usually a soft plastic or rubber-like material such as TPE, TPU, or silicone.
This process is commonly used to improve grip, sealing, impact resistance, appearance, and product functionality. Overmolding is widely applied in electronic enclosures, handles, medical devices, automotive parts, power tools, and consumer products.
Overmolding helps improve both product performance and manufacturing efficiency. It can enhance product appearance, improve grip and comfort, provide better protection, and reduce assembly costs by combining multiple materials or components into one finished part.
1. Improved aesthetics with color, texture, and soft-touch surfaces
2. Better functionality, such as grip, insulation, and shock absorption
3. Increased durability against impact, wear, moisture, and vibration
4. Reduced assembly time and overall manufacturing cost
Alpine Mold is a direct mold manufacturer, not a trading company. We have our own factory and in-house teams for mold design, mold manufacturing, injection molding, post-processing, quality inspection, and project management.
Our factory is located at:To request a quote for overmolding services, please provide the following information:
1. Product drawings, such as 3D files in STEP, IGS, X_T, or STP format
2. Material requirements for the base part and overmolded material
3. Estimated monthly or annual production quantity
4. Surface finish or appearance requirements
With these details, Alpine Mold can review your project and provide a more accurate quotation and suitable overmolding solution
For mold payment, we require a 40% deposit by T/T in advance, 30% before sending out the first trial samples, and the remaining 30% balance after you approve the final samples.
For production payment, we require a 50% deposit in advance and the remaining 50% balance before shipment of the final goods.
The lead time for your overmolding project depends on your part structure, mold complexity, material requirements, and order quantity.
1. Mold Lead Time
In general, our overmold injection mold takes about 4–6 weeks after your mold design is confirmed. For more complex overmolding projects, the tooling time may be longer.
For overmolding projects, Alpine Mold provides clear project documents at each key stage, helping you understand mold feasibility, tooling progress, trial results, sample quality, and shipment details before delivery.
Documents we provide include:
1. DFM Analysis ReportAlpine Mold supports you from the early design stage, providing DFM analysis to review product structure, parting lines, gate location, wall thickness, draft angles, and material suitability.
We can also help create functional prototypes before mold manufacturing, allowing you to check the design, fit, and performance before moving into tooling and stable mass production.
