About this project
Our client, based in Cyprus, is a renowned company specializing in the research, development, and sales of various underwater cameras and related equipment. In 2022, this client chose us to be their mold partner to manufacture of a camera underwater lighting shell.
The shell was designed to provide a durable and reliable housing for the lighting components used in underwater photography and videography. The client specified the use of ASA material for its excellent resistance to water, UV radiation, and impact. Furthermore, the product required a surface finish of SPI-B2 to ensure optimal performance and aesthetics.
ASA Injection Molding Project Progress
1. Initial Contact and Quotation
Upon receiving the client's detailed 3D drawings and specifications, our experienced team swiftly analyzed the requirements and provided a comprehensive quotation within one day. Our competitive pricing and expertise in injection molding caught the client's attention.
2. Order Confirmation
Impressed with our prompt response and competitive pricing, the client accepted our quotation and placed an order for the production of the camera underwater lighting shells. This marked the beginning of our collaboration.
3. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Report
To ensure the successful realization of the client's vision, our team conducted a thorough Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis. This report highlighted any potential design improvements, optimization strategies, and considerations for efficient and cost-effective production.
4. Mold Design and Manufacturing
Based on the approved DFM report, our skilled engineers started the mold design which took 3 days. After mold design is finished, we sent our client a 3D mold assembly drawing to check and confirm. As soon as our client confirmed the mold assembly drawing, we started purchase steel material and give him a schedule about his project.
After that, we leverage cutting-edge digital technologies like CNC machining, wire cutting, and EDM machining alongside our extensive expertise to streamline mold making processes. At the same time, we also utilize manual polishing techniques such as oil stone, sandpaper, polishing paste, and wool wheel to achieve a SPI-B2 surface finish, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and a high-quality finish.
5. Sample Production and Confirmation
After the moulds were assembled, we started to enter the trial production stage. We carefully inspected these samples for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and compatibility with the lighting components. Once the samples met the client's expectations, we shipped them to Cyprus for confirmation and evaluation.
6. Mass Production for ASA Injection Molding
Upon receiving the samples, the client thoroughly evaluated their functionality, durability, and aesthetics. Satisfied with the results, they provided their official approval, granting us the authorization to proceed with mass production. This marked a significant milestone in the project. After completing production and implementing comprehensive quality control measures, we carefully packaged the camera underwater lighting shells to ensure their safe transportation.
Result
Through our collaboration with the client from Cyprus, we successfully completed the project for the camera underwater lighting shell using ASA injection molding. The client's expertise in underwater camera development and sales, combined with our proficiency in injection mold manufacturing and molding, resulted in accelerating our client product development and speed to market .
